A Weekend with the Kings

So today was a pretty eventful Saturday. We caught up on some much needed sleep and woke up to the sun filling our room and birds chirping everywhere outside. I think some of them are mourning doves, which I think sound really cool. Then we had french toast, yum yum yum, followed by finishing the movie we fell asleep during last night (we watched two movies, 8 Legged Freaks, and since I knew I was going to have nightmares if we didn't watch something else, Beverly Hills Ninja). So we finished up watching our ninja movie. Then Chris had to go to work. (shown sitting below in his Best Buy uniform)
Chris has a little bit of homework left to do. So here he is finishing up. I am currently sitting next to him blogging. This isn't really what his "I'm doing homework" face looks like, but it is close.

Today while he was working at Best Buy they told him to work in the "digital life" section (laptops & such). He is supposed to work the "home life" section (home theater & appliances). He was a little sad, thinking he got demoted, but then found out at the end of the day that they didn't want him to switch (except just for today), but instead, from now on, he is in charge of the whole store. He has been number 1 in financing for the last few weeks and they want him to go all over. And they want him to radio in when he gets to work to let everyone know that he is the official translator when he is there, because they are sick of people who think they speak Spanish trying to work with Spanish speakers. Hard work pays off!
Here are our two long boards. We've had a lot of fun this week out on them. Sadly today it snowed/hailed in Park City so the boards had to stay inside. One day park city will realize that it shouldn't snow for a while.

Yesterday we went to the Spanish Ward's Scout Camp & Young Women fund raiser for their camps this Summer. It was a $5 Mexican/Columbian buffet! It was sooo good. They also had a live & silent auction. Chris had brought an extra $10 so we could have fun bidding. We were a little sad when we found out that almost every item's bid started out at around $50. We still had fun seeing how high the bids would go. They had some cool stuff: 3 hour scenic airplane tour, 3 night stay at the park city resort (during the Summer), parental coaching, architectural services, and all sorts of stuff. The above picture is my attempt at recreating the Spanish dinner for Chris when he got home from work today. I thought it turned out pretty good, even the rice (thanks Mom).
I went on a quest today looking for furniture for the VintageBlueBird. I found this sweet rocking chair that I think I am going to do a "sea foam green". I also found a table w/ 4 chairs. I think it is going to turn out great! And thats the most matching chairs I've had! While I was on my quest (clear down in West Jordan) I totally saw a parking pass that I had made from work! It was hanging in a truck with a teenager driving (I'm assuming its is son). But I was so excited. I even knew what subcontractor it was! That kid had no idea that the girl driving the jeep next to him made the pass hanging in his truck!
While I was driving trying to find my way around (again thanks mom) I saw #1 a WinCo, YAY! Got myself some groceries for almost 1/2 the amount it would have cost in Park City. and # 2 a great furniture consignment store. I went in to take a look (they had great stuff, Jenise & Cameo would have loved it!) I got this really cute little pitcher for $15, and they gave me the flowers for free (I think they felt bad because I spent forever finding the right flowers, only to discover that the ones I wanted only sold in a huge set for lots of money, then I spent forever trying to decide between this pitcher and a really cool white vase, so they probably just didn't want me to have another emotional dilema trying to decide if I should get the flowers or not). It was a really neat store.

So we had a pretty fun day. Chris is going to finish his homework, do the dishes :) and then hopefully we have enough time to watch KungFu Panda.

Its finally warming up!

Despite the complete lack of snow here in Park City it has been COLD.  Just so you know last tuesday was the last snow.  So Sommer got me a long board for an early "Week Late Father's Day" present.  It was real nice because the weather just turned for the better and is bearable now.  We went down to the valley and went to Zumiez and it took me forever to pick a board out, but I finally found a good one....even with the "help" that our salesman gave us.  Sommer and I are surprised at the salesmen at Zumiez...they are air-heads.  Luckily we planned ahead and brought Sommer's long board (on Tuesday) and with both of our boards we went over to a park in Sugarhouse.  There's a pic.  We rode around all evening.  It's really a good park to go boarding at because it's very hilly and its 1-way traffic with a huge bike/walk lane to ourselves.  It has a nice goose poop lake also.  We had a blast riding Tuesday night.

After work on Wednesday we found a great ride up here in Park City.  It was on our way to a park close to where we live.  The majority of our trip to the park was paved with smooth asphalt and made for a fun ride.  We rode downhill for a surprisingly long time and then walked/longboarded back up the hill to the park where we had intended to stop.  At the park there are a load of soccer goals and they were all being used by little league soccer games and practices so we stopped to sit and watch them play for a while.  It was real fun watching two games go on.  One game was full of 4-6 year olds (we're guessing) and then the other game was 12 year olds.  It was fun to see them side by side and see the contrast.  The little guys were all in a clump around the ball fighting for it whereas the 12 year olds had some awesome passes and shots.  It was a lot of fun.  Here are a a bunch of long boarding pics and even some movies if i can get them to work!

So here i am walking to Sommer...I don't remember this shot happening but i don't have any other pics of me so here you go!

Here is my longboard...its actually pretty short but it carves like no other.  Sommer thinks it is too squirrley but i like it a lot!

Sommer got going too fast so she bailed and had to run it off.  Silly girl!  You're supposed to stay ON the board!

Here we are taking a break and enjoying the weather.  You can see part of my board's shadow at the bottom of this pic.

No movies still, I can't get blogger to upload the .avi's.  We had a fun adventure and it was real nice to get out and have some fun!
